almost no one came to work today, giving me the opportunity to both get work done as well as muck about unobserved:

• various and diverf nodes -- this is more seductive than i'd thought it would be originally... how much life do you show?
• meeting various and diverf noders -- a distinct pleasure
• letter to my sister
• a singleton, of all things
• coding cruft
• ocr cruft (we digitise scholarly serials, so a lot of ocr happens here... enough to make one go cross-eyed)
• an indeterminate number of bottles of coke

perhaps more mucking about than not...
