The most successful team in Major League Soccer. Has won the MLS Cup 3 out of the league's first 6 seasons. Under the initial guidance of Bruce Arena (who went on to coach the US national team) and later Thomas Rongen, stars such as Marco Etcheverry, Jeff Agoos, and Eddie Pope have set a fine example for the rest of the league. Other stars lost to salary caps over the years: John Harkes, Roy Lassiter, Raul Diaz Arce, and Scott Garlick. Games can be viewed regularly on ABC or ESPN.

In addition to league championships, United has won numerous other trophies. They won the US Open Cup in their first season, completing a "Double". They have also won the Confederations Champions Cup once and beat Vasco da Gama of Brazil to win the Interamerican Cup.
