Mum: "Andrew, you're not normal. You know that, right?"
My mum says this to me so much that it's completely lost it's meaning now, I've given up on normalcy.
While waiting for our Nasi Gorengs and Short Soups at a noodle shop, we (my mum, sister and I) were sitting at a small table. Erica asked how much our food cost, and I, not having the reciept, was trying to guess. "It definitely ends in a 3". "Nope". Turns out it cost $15. "Well it must end with a 3 in a base other than 10", so I took the reciept and started scrawling on the back. Mum and Erica were exchanging awkward glances, and I suddenly exclaimed: "Ah-hah! It's $33 in base 4!". Triumphantly I placed the pen on the table, and leaned back on my chair.
After we got our food, we walked out, and mum said to me: "People were looking at you strangely in there, you know". This happens all too often. Later, while I was frantically proving that x^0=1, Mum said to Erica: "I'm sure you don't have moments like this with your boyfriend". The reply was a definite no.
Well, I find her boyfriend boring anyway. |
