What if a renegade band of evil scientists extracted the DNA from some of the most prominent figures in history and populated a high school with teenage versions of them? That's the question Nelvana and MTV hope to answer with the upcoming animated teen comedy series, Clone High. ~Animation Magazine, Inc.
The cartoon Clone High originally aired in Canada in 2002 and made an appearance on MTV in the United States the following year where it was titled Clone High USA. It was created by a couple of twentysomethings, Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who met as animation students at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
In the style of MTV's other teen angsty cartoon, Daria, the characters attended high school and underwent the normal pressures of teenagers. From Abraham Lincoln and JFK fighting over Cleopatra to Gandhi's struggle to find a Prom date this cartoon cut an amusing angle on some of the world's most well known leaders. Everyone clamored to get in on the hype of this cartoon with new stars (Mandy Moore) and old (Luke Perry as Ponce De Leon) showing up in guest roles. Unfortunately this show had a short run of only one season which sparked an unsuccessful online petition for its return.
