| The name for the new maths faculty buildings in Cambridge, which are currently still under construction. The place is huge, (eventually) consisting of seven sizeable pavillions surrounding a central core with a silly grass roof that makes it look very much like the teletubbies' house. In addition to this, there is the Isaac Newton institute, a big fuck off library and, for some reason, a gatehouse. Estimated to have cost about £56m.
It's a nice place to work, although a long way out of town. The buildings' architects seem to have gone mad about disability provision on the site (there seem to be three disabled toilets in every building), which may have something to do with Stephen Hawking working here, although I've never seen him on the premises. |
