An important canyon pass through the Santa Monica Mountains that connects Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. The name is derived from the native Tongva Indians word that means "place of the mountain." It is the location of the surrender of Alta California, part of the El Camino Real, and the site of an ancient Indian burial ground. Also located in the pass are the Hollywood Bowl and the John Anson Ford Theater.
