| The CBS Orchestra is responsible for the music on CBS's Late Show with David Letterman -- without a doubt the best music on late night television (rivaled only by The Max Weinberg 7 from Late Night with Conan O'Brien). The orchestra consists of the following musicians:
Paul Shaffer - Music Director, keyboard
Felicia Collins - Guitarist
Alan Chez - Trumpet/Flugelhorn
Will Lee - Bass
Sid McGinnis - Guitar
Anton Fig - Percussion
Bruce Capler
Tom "Bones" Malone
The band plays the opening theme for the show, as well as musical intros for comedy bits and various popular music to entertain the studio audience during commercial breaks. Occasionally, a legendary musician such as Peter Frampton will sit in with the band for a night or two. |
