She appeared in 42 films, many of them Technicolor musicals, including
Moon Over Miami, Down Argentine Way, Pin Up Girl, and Springtime in the Rockies. Over a million U.S. servicemen in
World War II had a pin-up photo of her, looking back over her right shoulder, wearing a bathing suit which showed off her legs (Which were soon insured for $1,000,000). In 1946 she was the highest paid woman in the United States because of her box office power (She was Fox's main star from 1940-1955). She was married twice, to actor Jackie Coogan, then bandleader Harry James. |
