| A public funded mid-size (~6,000) university in Russellville, Arkansas. Basically, if your looking for a campus where there are no fraternity or sorority houses, this is it. The university was founded in 1909 as a agricultural high school, and in the 1920's became a junior college. Later, it became a full 4-year college (Arkansas Polytechnic College). On July 1, 1976, the name was offically changed to Arkansas Tech University. Arkansas Tech resides on a campus on the north part of Russellville about a half mile south of Interstate 40. Currently, the president of Arkansas Tech is Dr. Robert Brown. The university has nothing special, except for a few specalized degree programs in things such as Emergency Administration and Management, which there less than 10 schools in the United States that give this as an option. Also, this school currently/used to own a nuclear reactor, and is very close to a nuclear power plant, where some nuclear physics/engineering courses are taught. |
