First mentioned in the Bible by Daniel, "the abomination that maketh desolate" (Daniel 11:31; 12:11), and later mentioned in the New Testament in Matthew 24:15, "the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet." This referred to the siege of Jerusalem by the Romans. There is indication that this will happen again in the last days.
