A boat tail hollow point bullet is a match grade bullet design that uses the concept of a teardrop like shape to give it a lower drag coefficient and make it produce less turbulence in its wake. Only the base of the bullet has a boat tail like shape, the ogive is still pointed, it can also have an open tip for even better accuracy at long ranges.

Conventional bullet design usually make use of a flat or even concave base which creates turbulence and hence affects accuracy. The effect is not much really but when you are sniping at ranges of excess of 500 yards you need all the help you can get.

The yellow jacket is Remington's hyper velocity .22 lr offering in hollow point.

It uses a 33 grain truncated conical hollow point bullet and has an advertised muzzle velocity of 1,500 feet per second which gives 165 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle.

Because of its light bullet weight it has less momentum and its velocity quickly drops to 1,075 fps (85 foot pounds of energy) by the time it reaches the 100 yard range. While that is a drastic reduction it is still enough to take small game like squirrels and rats.

The yellow "jacketing" on the bullet is some sort of brass or copper wash but don't let the name fool you, it is not a real jacketed round. A true jacketed round has to be swaged into a copper jacket.

Actually, the jacketed flat point that is referred to above is quite different from a wadcutter. It is basically a FMJ round but does not have a ball profile.

More properly called a jacketed truncated cone bullet, it is shaped like a truncated cone. Duh.

Although most pistol rounds can be loaded with a TC bullet it is most commonly found on .40 Smith & Wesson FMJ factory loads. The flat point (oxymoron?) creates a bigger permanent crush cavity and permanently damages more soft tissue than a round "ball" profile FMJ. .22 lr rounds also uses TC bullets, the Remington Viper for one.

Not to make fun of getting shot but just to compare, a hit from a TC bullet will sound like "THUBB!" while a ball will easily part soft tissue and go through and through and would be more appropriately onomatopeaiaized as "BLOOP!"

It has become a common greeting between filipinos who happen to meet while working or living abroad.

The filipinos love their country and its culture, they do even if they leave it for another one, sometimes for an entire lifetime. And this is evident through their willingness to connect with their fellow migrant workers who best understand how they feel.

On the other hand this open trust on fellow filipinos is also how some of the illegal aliens get caught by the INS, their own kababayans who befriend them turn them in for the $1500 reward.

In the movie Die Hard 2 there is a mention of this new super pistol that is all ceramic, undetectable by metal detectors, and can hold a lot of ammo.

It also was black and evil looking and not many people have seen a gun like this before. It looked more like a toy than a gun.

They called it the Glock 7.*

And this is where all the myths about the Glock came from, intentional or not, it effectively made this falsity fact to many people's minds.

In truth it was a garden variety Glock 17. It does have a polymer frame but the slide is pure steel. Many of the parts inside are also metal. It will show up in metal detectors and will most likely be a prelude to a cavity search if you try to sneak a Glock through the airport.

Assuming the entire gun was indeed ceramic and non metallic, the cartridges would still be metallic and would set off metal detectors. Cartridges are mostly lead, brass, and copper.…

Parents who won't let their children play with toy guns (idea)

Are usually very well meaning people, unless they are Sarah Brady or Diane Feinstein or Rosie O'Donnell, and sometimes I even agree with the reasons they have. The parents, not those three ladies whose names I mentioned.

I mean of course it is better to teach kids to play with each other and cooperate. Better for them to see what they can do if they help each other, rather than make a game of shoot each other's head off.

But there is a downside to this, making guns verboten, be it real, airsoft, replica, or cap and ball, gives them this mystique. This false sense of magic.

Consequently, these kids will probably also not have any firearms handling training, unless of course they get sent off to military school. And this, can be dangerous. It is better to educate than to just plainly say no because I said so.

You can never childproof a gun, but you sure can gunproof a child.
