How about all those times you've looked at me,
And then the times when you couldn't look at all?
You know those moments, as well as I do—
Your protestations notwithstanding,
You gave yourself into them the same—
As you give yourself in other ways, sometimes, still.

You know those moments, not as well as I do—
Moments I couldn't forget, or forgive myself if I did—
When you turned your head or turned your eyes,
Put your hands on your hips and rolled to one foot,
And had a smile find its way to your lips,
With a question asked less innocent than not.

You know those moments, not as well as me,
Because as you told me before, this can't be,
And what you said before, you can't say anymore,
And what happened before, can't happen anymore,
Or be remembered, at least by you, or
…

What is RAID?

RAID is an acronym used in the computing industry to describe a manner in which multiple hard disks are configured in a computer. The configuration is such that they provide some type of redundancy in the event that one of the disks fails. The acronym itself has historically been to shorten one of the two following phrases:

Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks

Redundant Array of Independent Disks

As most persons professionally involved in the computer industry, and I'm sure a number of very unhappy home users, can tell you, the hard disks in computers are failure-prone and can have very short life spans. Furthermore, as one of the few components in a computer that has moving parts (hard disks have metal platters that tend to spin between 5,400 and 10,000 times per minute, or about 90-167 times per second), it is prone to mechanical failures that aren't often seen in other components. When she looked at me today,
My heart broke in four separate pieces:
One felt the pain of a spear in my side;
Another died and took with it
The smiles I had remembered each day.
The third took my voice, until
I couldn't remember why I had come,
Or what I had wanted to say.
The last took my hand, to lead me away,
Until I was taken, and going,
I realized, if my heart is to be broken,
There is no one else to take it—
No one else I would let break it.

As I sat in a dimly lit, crowded and noisy French restaurant in the Spanish heart of San Francisco, I found that, though surrounded by din and the corporeal, I was nowhere to be found at all. An indiscernible conflagration of drums played through the small speakers perched nearby, all other music drowned out in the cramped restaurant. The man next to me had spilled his drink to the floor bringing a crowd of three employees to his aid, no doubt to his chagrin, and an obstreperously noisy group behind me persisted in smacking the table with gusto at each laughter-inducing story. These things found themselves taking second chair until I found that they went wholly unnoticed—I was lost in the blue planet that I saw in her eyes for the first time.

I studied and tried to memorize as well as my mind could, struggling through the confluence of beauty that makes up the human face and body—more pointedly, her face and body.…
