How to dye your hair an unnatural color (idea)

As going with strange, unnatural colors is typically something done by those in high school or college, age groups where money is typically in short supply, but time is not, it is good to have detailed instructions on doing your own wild colored hair at home.

But for those of you who have some extra spending money, along with the desire for a technicolor appearance, I would highly recommend doing some searching for a salon which will do the color for you, if one is available in your area. Why?

The primary reason is appearance. While you can surely get even bleaching and even color application yourself, it's a lot easier for someone else to do. They don't have to struggle to see all the way around your head, and they surely have a lot more experience applying bleach and color to hair. If you're going for a multicolor appearance, this is even more important - a decently experienced and skilled stylist/colorist has no problems getting straight streaks,

…

On April 24, 1996, it was formally announced that the Women's National Basketball Association - the WNBA - had been approved by the NBA, and would begin play in June of 1997, only 15 months later. And that they did, as they proceeded to secure the various things that would be needed. A logo was created, broadcast rights were sold, and most importantly, the teams were founded and players found and signed.

By the time the first jump ball went into the air, eight teams had been created and staffed. All of the original eight teams were owned by the WNBA, and closely tied to NBA teams.

The two conferences each started with four teams. The Eastern Conference consisted of the Charlotte Sting, the Cleveland Rockers, the Houston Rockets, and the New York Liberty. The Western Conference found itself with the Los Angeles Sparks, the Phoenix Mercury, the Sacramento Monarchs, and the Utah Starzz.

When getting things moving, each of these eight teams were…

It's been about a month since I've returned from my latest extended E2 absence, and I've been decently active here, more active than I've been in a couple years. I was wondering why I stayed away from here for so long, and I think I'm realizing what it was.

I first signed on to Everything - no, not Everything 2, as it wasn't in existence yet - over five years ago. I've seen a lot in my time, from the appearance of E2, the introduction of the chatterbox, voting and the XP system, numerous changes in editorial policy, the creation of usergroups, the first quest, and so on. I've watched noders come and go, and suffered when special people have had bad things happen. I've also done some stupid things that have taught me lessons.

When it comes down to it, what has made this place so special to me, kept me…

About Gwen:

Born Eddie Araujo, Gwen grew up in the small town of Newark, California, a suburb 30 miles away from San Francisco, California. Her big dream was to become a Hollywood make-up artist.

After years of dealing with her feelings, Gwen came out to her mom as transgendered at the age of 14. "I don't fit in anywhere and I feel like a freak," Gwen told her mother. Her mother responded by holding her, and telling her, "you know what, baby? You're not a freak." She gave her both confidence and acceptance.

She began to live as a girl, having grown out her hair, and started wearing simple girl's clothes. As is common for transgendered youth, her peers were not entirely helpful. Some friends did stand by and support her, but she was subject to a lot of teasing from others. "I could see the pain in his eyes," said Sylvia Guerrero, Gwen's mother. "People were really mean to him at school. He really tried, but no one accepted him." Gwen eventually stopped attending…

Until my recent move to Seattle, I've lived in the midwest United States my entire life. In the untamed wilderness of mid-Michigan, southern Indiana, and Chicago, Illinois, wildlife tends to include the whole gamut from squirrels to raccoons to birds to moles, and on special days, the occasional deer. About the most dangerous thing such animals can do to you is run out in front of your car when driving.

Now that I'm going hiking in the Cascade Range, I have to remember that wildlife tends to be a bit wilder. I had already been on a couple hikes in areas where mountain lions had been seen in the past, and it took a little bit to get used to the concept that there was the possibility of running into animals that had the potential to kill me in ways other than rabies.

My last hike, though, really got my attention. At the trailhead, where they posted general trail rules and the latest update on the shape of the trail, was a sign with…

Take a nice block of pecorino cheese, that wonderful stuff. Take it, and set it outside. Leave it, for barn-flies to lay their eggs in it, eggs that hatch into maggots. Once that cheese is filled with those maggots, bring it inside and eat it.

You're kidding, right?

Actually, no. This Sardinian treat, also called casu modde, can still be found in parts of Northern Italy. Not at your local restaurant or grocer though - this "food" is banned in the country. Those people that still want to enjoy it are forced to either purchase it on the black market - for about three times the price of regular pecorino, or make it themselves. OK, maybe calling it the "black market" is a bit of a stretch, as many regular markets have some tucked away, either ready to sell to a customer right there, or can get one for the next day. It's still considered a rare delicacy, and even some government health department workers secretly enjoy the stuff, and as a result, the ban is usually…
