She was returning to her throne. To reclaim the seat from her crew. Stars streamed by the port window. Alla gazed out. 

It's been a long while since she left. She didn't know what to expect. She trusted them. They'd been together for years, travelling to the center. Together when they raided other ships. Together when they stole them. Her chosen family.

It would still be weeks until she arrived. For now, she waited. Her partner steered their ship between galaxies. Not much to see. The beauties of space get taken for granted the more she travelled.

She reminded herself to take advantage of these moments. While she still could. Who knew when it would be the last time. On second thought, Alla herself would know. Once she was seated back on her throne.

But that didn't mean she shouldn't appreciate the present. She poured herself a flagon of mead and stared out the window.
