A
tactic often used in
negotiations by the person who believes that he or she holds all of the
cards. The person is trying to express a dis-interest in the outcome of the negotiation, because he or she
believes that the other party either has no
choice in the matter, or is too
busy / doesn' t have enough time to find a
better deal. While on the surface this may appear like a viable negotiating tactic, the end result is
alienation - thus reducing the probability of
future business.
If given this choice, I nearly always Leave It. I can usually find someone willing to
sell me the same
goods or
services for a better price / higher quality. And Leaving It enough times teaches the negotiator to find a better way to
bargain.
