An
euphemism for "
Black Person" in the
United States. In my opinion, it's a really
unfortunate term, because:
- It induces the idea that it's demeaning in any way to have dark colored skin, which is not true.
- Dark skinned people come from different places in the planet, not only Africa.
- Some people think of it as an educated way of saying Black, but if that'd be the case, shouldn't the term be extended to include Euro-American, Indo-American, Latin-American-American and so on?
- Most Afro-Americans never set their feet on Africa, and never will.
